October 2020

Dear Big,

As the weather changes and we continue our in-person programming, we hope that these activity ideas (both virtual and in-person) can inspire some fun meetings with you and your Little! We appreciate you taking the time to stay connected with your Little whether it's been through letters, care packages, Zoom calls, online gaming, or spending time together in-person. We hope these activities get you and your Little excited about Fall!

Warm Wishes,
The Community Team

Be a part of the Big Night In!

Do you think you and your Little would be able to record a video of yourselves talking about the fun things you've done together? Great! We are looking for matches to tell us about their experiences in BBBS and talk about what being part of our community means to them. For more information on the Big Night In and how you and your Little can get involved, click here or contact Lindsay directly at lindsay.mccarthy@bbbscm.org!

Recipe of the Month

RECIPE: Spiced Pumpkin Seeds

Carving pumpkins together? Great! Afterwards, you and your Little can create this snack and enjoy a sweet treat!

The recipe is super simple: Toss pumpkin seeds in melted butter, sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg, and allspice. Bake at 300°F until golden brown, about 30 minutes.

Good copy is inspiring. Click the pencil icon to edit this copy and replace it with content that speaks to the supporter in a personal, emotional, and actionable way. Make it clear that their support is mission-critical.

Resources

Check out the Big Brothers Big Sisters website for even more suggestions of virtual and in-person activities to do with your Littles. And please note, Bigs and Littles are absolutely NOT PERMITTED to meet in person until the reopening agreement documents are signed by both a Big and their Little's parent/guardian. If you have questions about this, please reach out to your Match Support Specialist.

Looking to talk with your Little about race and the Black Lives Matter movement? Here are some great resources and a helpful video with advice for talking to children about race.
