Bob Cousy Statue Unveiling

On June 18th, staff, board members, and friends of BBBS gathered at the DCU Center in Worcester to celebrate former Boston Celtic and Holy Cross alum, Bob Cousy at his statue unveiling. Bob Cousy was a Big three times in his life and has been a long-time supporter of our agency. Many of the speakers who spoke at the unveiling remarked on the life of service that Mr. Cousy led. We are so honored that he is a true friend of the agency.

Also in attendance at the unveiling were two of Bob's Littles that he mentored. The third Little was not able to attend. One of the former mentees flew in for the event from Ohio! Of course, they are no longer "Little" but their support of Bob shows what an impact he had on their lives. Below is a photo of BBBS staff with the two "Littles" at the unveiling.

Program Highlight

This Summer, BBBS had the opportunity to invite over 60 matches to several Red Sox games in a suite donated by the Boston Red Sox. Erica's Suite was donated in memory of a young girl who passed of leukemia. Now that suite is used to invite kids to the game in Erica's memory.

Over several different games, our matches were able to attend and for many experience Boston and Fenway Park for the very first time! One match in particular made a day out of it! It was the Little's first time in the city so they walked around Boston, had lunch, and did a tour of Fenway all before taking in the game! It was so great seeing the smiles on everyone's faces - especially when they were cheering on a home-run!

Stand With Us Today to Defend Potential

When children and teens have the influence of a caring adult, they are more likely to avoid risky behaviors and to focus on academics. Today's youth face a variety of challenges, and being matched with a Big Brother or Big Sister can help them navigate these challenges and reach their potential.
