Resolve to Mentor in 2019

New Year is a great time to reinvent yourself, to be better. And this January, there's a way you can make a resolution that is even bigger than you. When you become a Big, you'll make a difference not only in the life of your Little, but also in your own. Click the link below to learn more about becoming a mentor, a volunteer opportunity that will truly change your life.

National Mentoring Month

January was National Mentoring Month, a month dedicated to celebrating the life-changing impact mentoring can have on children who need extra support. We called our Bigs to thank them, we held our Annual Meeting, we recruited new Board members, and we spent time advocating for increased support for mentoring programs from the State. It's been a great month celebrating mentoring!

New Board Members Announced

Big Brothers Big Sisters announced the election of three new Board Members at our Annual Meeting on January 23rd at the Hanover Insurance Group. Eric Jenkins, Michael Burke and Dr. Arin Whitman are all active Bigs in our program and we look forward to them continuing their service on our Board. We provide children with caring role models.

When children and teens have the influence of a caring adult, they are more likely to avoid risky behaviors and to focus on academics. Today's youth face a variety of challenges, and being matched with a Big Brother or Big Sister can help them navigate these challenges and reach their potential.
